If anyone needs a pre-WW1 Navy officer's sword...

First, let me say this is not my sword, nor do I know the seller. But, I thought this might be of interest to some people.

This sword belonged to Assistant Surgeon Theodore Normand Pease. He was commissioned in 1903, but in 1906 was caught cheating on a promotion exam, court martialed, and dismissed from the naval service. He was officially the first naval officer in history to be dismissed from the service for cheating on an exam - his court martial and discipline made the "above the fold" front page of The Washington Post on August 17, 1906.

The sword itself is a "deluxe" model, with engraved oakleaves and other decorations on the scabbard. It's not in the greatest shape...then again, it is 114 years old!

Anyway...like I said...it's not mine, and I don't know the seller, but the history's interesting and the price is good enough where I even thought about buying it for a few minutes (but I really, really don't need another sword in the collection!) :D

Nice, but he wouldn`t ship to Germany. Read this often in the US ebay and couldn`t understand. Knifes and swords are legal if you are 18 and older.

Kind of an older post to reply to, however most of the time it's not the sellers determining this, eBay likes to tell sellers where we can and cannot ship items. I used to sell lots of bayonets overseas. Now many categories are off limits for international shipping. Shipping prices have gotten crazy so I don't mind as much.

I love the epolice. They will let some things sell that are regulated (various gun receivers), but they are too dumb to know it and ban us from selling things that are perfectly legal. I'm glad someone is looking out for our safety.
