easterneagle87 Posted January 9, 2017 Share #1 Posted January 9, 2017 This is listed for $165. Is it worth it?
TheMariner Posted January 9, 2017 Share #2 Posted January 9, 2017 Not in the slightest! This is a common sweetheart piece! They sell between $20-$60! Now if it were one of the issue cap examples with the screw back they sell about $100-$130! So either way this is a horrible deal! A quick search of ebay will find you tons of these sold and for sale now! They are very common also!

lakenormanusa Posted January 9, 2017 Share #5 Posted January 9, 2017 The anchor on this pin is marked "10K." These are less common and I've seen them sell for up to $145. I've seen the more common "1/20 10K + Sterling" marked pieces sell for up to $65. Rick
lakenormanusa Posted January 9, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 9, 2017 Here's an ebay link to a "1/20 10K + Sterling" marked pin that sold for $100. This one included the original H-H box. http://www.ebay.com/itm/WW2-USMC-1-2010K-Gold-amp-Sterling-Marine-EGA-Hat-Insignia-Hilborn-Hamburger-Boxed-/222354517065?hash=item33c55cac49%3Ag%3AQnoAAOSwux5YUy5A&nma=true&si=vb1RYmUM5%252FCQJC%252BIAQpv2yqbQQA%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Brig Posted January 9, 2017 Share #7 Posted January 9, 2017 Prices on those are all over the board, and honestly I think it's because a lot of people mistake them for cover emblems. These are in no way rare and collecting value I would say is around $35-$65 factors depending. Over $100 is just ridiculous for how often these turn up
TheMariner Posted January 17, 2017 Share #8 Posted January 17, 2017 I would agree with Brig as a follow up these are mistaken by newer and novice collectors as the real deal "cover emblem' which at times cause them to go for odd prices $80-$100. I have owned a number of these and worth more then the original price i quote any freak sales where buyers and sellers who had the item incorrectly ID'd
