Johnny Signor Posted January 7, 2017 Share #3 Posted January 7, 2017 Well , one small "clue/lead" it's 8th AAF related seeing the small "8" on the top of the patch , other than that , it's a very interesting emblem !!!!!!!!

Johnny Signor Posted January 30, 2017 Share #5 Posted January 30, 2017 "possibly" related to the 26th Observation/Tac Recon Squadron, bird is very similar to the posted image here .......
R. Watkins Posted January 30, 2017 Share #6 Posted January 30, 2017 "possibly" related to the 26th Observation/Tac Recon Squadron, bird is very similar to the posted image here ....... Spot-on regarding the 'eagle' configuration Johnny, but I couldn't but notice the Eighth AF emblem located in the horizontal bar above the eagle image. The 26thObs/TacRcnSqdn was assigned to the 70thRcn/TacRcnGp, which spent the entire war operating in the ATO engaged in training exercises and antisubmarine patrols, so I think we can safely rule out this patch as belonging to the 26thRcn/TacRcnSqdn.Sqdn. Johnny Signor Posted January 31, 2017 Share #7 Posted January 31, 2017 yeah Bob , I agree , but maybe a chance they had a "numbered" Flight system, like Flight 8 , etc , the 8th AAF emblem almost always had the wings on each side where as the image doesn't, seems like if they went to the trouble of painting that- they would have put the wings on too....... Most likely something else , but the bird sure is spot on to the 26th .........
