Pretty cool photo I picked up last year of Airborne soldiers with their Fox mascot. It looks like the fox has his own chute!!

It says REYNAR FOX on the Fox's chute pack!

Love this photo! There are so many things going on in it.

First the obvious, try taking your pet Fox on a jump nowadays. Second how long has it been since we were allowed to smoke in the aircraft?

Has anyone been able to ID the collar device(s) on our young Trooper holding the Fox.(or are those some kind of snaps)

And it appears he has some custom made 2 button cuffed shirt on.

Are we sure that these guys are American?

What you're seeing are the snaps on the collar and cuffs of a US Army parachute jumper coat.

Looks like the fox's chute is a standard reserve chute. Also looks like a static line in the handlers left hand, which may be attached to the fox's chute (?).

In the late 1970's/early 1980's, 1st Recon Battalion (USMC) at Camp Talega, had an old dog named Cindy. The story is that Cindy came home with 1st Recon from Vietnam, and she also had logged numerous jumps. Cindy had a modified parachute kit bag with 4 leg holes sewn in. Cindy was placed in the bag - legs thru the holes, then zipped in. One of the human jumpers would attach Cindy to his harness and she would make the jump with him. She didn't descend in her own chute, like it appears the fox does. Cindy was known by all on base, but seemed to hang out mostly in Alpha Co.'s area.
