DaddyDog Posted December 31, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 31, 2016 These patches and jacket were found recently at a local flea market. Can they be dated? I am not sure what the wing patch is on the shoulder and the jacket looks foreign to me. Here is the jacket and the expert driver patch.

KurtA Posted December 31, 2016 Share #5 Posted December 31, 2016 The 2nd Armored Division received their Bradley's in 1982 (re: the Hell On Wheels Bradley patch). I'd estimate the patches are 1980's era. This is not an "as worn" field jacket by a US Army member. This would have been worn by a civilian. As it appears to never had US Army or Name tapes, I'd say somebody just added these patches to a field jacket for "fashion purposes."

Agreed, fashion, wouldn't even go as far as to say a vet, or, off duty GI worn really. But Yeah Kurt now that we're seeing, maybe some one who lived in Killeen or Copperas Cove. Note they're Ft Hood based/related patches .
doyler Posted December 31, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 31, 2016 Looks like the jacket was lined with a Army blanket as well...?
firefighter Posted July 6, 2017 Share #8 Posted July 6, 2017 Just came across this. I think this was worn by a vet, Probably found this jacket and had his patches sewn on. Not sure why the wings maybe he did something with aviation?

Not sure why the wings maybe he did something with aviation? More likely worn by the vet's teen age son. I am thinking this might be a foreign jacket to begin with. Note the lack of a name or US Army tape.

son of a Jungleer Posted March 28, 2018 Share #11 Posted March 28, 2018 Definitely a U.S. issue M1951 field jacket. I wonder if any other examples out there with sewn in blanket material liners. Neat item!

I don't know, for one, the shoulder loops look off, not long, and more broad at the base, Plus for some reason the material over all looks of a lighter weight. patches Posted March 28, 2018 Share #13 Posted March 28, 2018 And as a aside, while this particular jacket may or may not be a GI, probaly not, there are commercially made examples used back in the day by troops, MQ50, and M51, I had a Army Navy store MQ50 (MQ50 being the M43 with the buttons sewn to the inside for the liner) once, used in very good condition, huge size. So here's a topic with these various Army Navy Store types. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/132118-commercial-type-m-51-or-m-52-field-jackets/
