superchief Posted December 29, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 29, 2016 Another blast from the past-- Revell's plastic kit of the 155 gun and tractor. Scaled at 1/40 it was among the company's first "armor" models released in 1957. The kit was pretty detailed for the time with plenty of detail on the tractor and working features on the cannon. In addition the kit contained 5 soldier figures. Amazingly, the molds for the kit were owned by Steve Adams, a mold maker employed by Revell. In 1958 Adams left Revell and took his molds with him starting up the "Adams Action Model" company. Hence the 155 and tractor only appeared in Revell's catalog for one year, never to be manufactured by the company again. I found this model in a box of my "Golden Oldies" from childhood and did a little re-work (Mainly repainting with an airbrush and fixing a few broken parts). I didn't add on any detail and left it as an original equipment build. Not as sophisticated as today's kits but a lot of "fun" back in the day. The Meatcan Posted December 29, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 29, 2016 Always liked this combo and the HST in general. Nice clean build of a true golden oldie. Thanks for posting! Terry
Lee Ragan Posted December 29, 2016 Share #5 Posted December 29, 2016 I got one of these kits as a Christmas present back in the late 50's. Mine never looked as good as this. was about 10 years old at the time and not progressed too far up the experience ladder of model building. Thanks for sharing these photos. gwb123 Posted January 7, 2017 Share #7 Posted January 7, 2017 It was under my Christmas Tree as well years ago. Just the cover art alone was enough to get you excited! (Image from the internet: link not available.)
