SSgt. Ollie Eugene Worley, past away in 1990. Two of his sons were in the military serving our country, so they assumed his ashes would be properly taken care of. Wrong. Recently his ashes and dog tags were left on the steps of VFW post 4696 in Hurst Texas. 26 years after his death with a note to please give this solder a proper burial. So they went on a mission to find out who he was and how he ended up there. Post Chaplin Rush De Wade found the family members and brought them together to finally put him to rest properly. Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery said yes. He was given a military funeral with full honors Monday at 1:00 pm. I attended the ceremony. From his photo's I could tell he was a member of the 104th Infantry Division "Timber Wolves" He was awarded a CBI badge. The VFW invited everyone attending back to the post for refreshments and sandwiches. The family attended. His grandchildren who weren't born when he passed away attended. An amazing story to a WW2 hero of the Greatest Generation. (google his name for more news clips). Rest in Peace Gene. God Bless.
