1st Marine patch, early WWII?

Is there any way to date these two patches? Both have nice looking "snow" on the back, but they are definitely different. The one on the left appears to have been taken off a uniform (I can see the stitch holes when held up to the light). The GUADALCANAL letters are so much cleaner and more detailed and the blue thread has more of a pattern to it.

I'm also curious about the one on the right... never saw a patch with a name I.D.

Thanks!

My guess is he was setting up his marking kit and wanted to test the stamp, and figured it would never get seen back there

During wartime no body looked at the back of a patch. Government

requisitions didn't mention the color or amount of bobbin thread.

Collectors were the first to look at the backs of patches. This is how we

have snow backs greenbacks purple backs and black backs.

The amount of snow depends on the tension of the bobbin.

Thanks for all the comments!

I had a fleeting thought about tracking his name but there's just too many Plunkett's to even begin. I thought if I could narrow down the time frame as to when the patch was made it might help.
