digi-shots Posted December 5, 2016 Share #1 Posted December 5, 2016 I just picked up an AMICO small wing this weekend. Are these small wings "sweetheart", shirt, or service cap wings? (or all of the above) This is my 2nd AMICO small wing. Can anyone help date the two wings I have. .. similar but with different style hallmarks. The "solid" one measures 1 1/2" and the "cut-out" one measures 1 3/8". Thanks!

pfrost Posted December 5, 2016 Share #3 Posted December 5, 2016 WW2 or could even be a bit later. I believe that the AMICO went out of business (IIRC) in the late 40's but their old stock and dies continued to be sold (under the GEMSCO banner). But its close enough not to be worth any quibbling. Those are nice wings, and were worn on the cap (as well as sweetheart wings as well). Nice. P
B-17Guy Posted December 6, 2016 Share #4 Posted December 6, 2016 Like Patrick said, AMICO went out of business right after WWII, so really anything of theirs can be considered WWII era. As for the back marks, the wing pictured top has their earliest style hallmark and the lower of yours was more mid to late war. Both are meant to be worn as cap insignia, neither wing is earlier then 1942. John
