Major Gerald Devlin passed on Veterans day 2 weeks ago at the age of 83. Ranger Devlin fought in the Korean war with the 187th Airborne. He was promoted from Msg to Officer. He next fought in Viet Nam as an advisor th the Vietnameese 44th Ranger Bn. Severely injured as he was, Devlin stayed and directed the attack till the next day when he was evacuated. He next spent a year in the hospital. Following his "Recovery", he was re deployed back to Nam, but in an administrative position. Jerry suffered stomach issues all along. He was awarded the DSC for his actions with the Rangers and was also inducted into the Ranger Hall of Fame.He authored the book "Paratrooper!", "Return to Corregador": and a book on glider troops history, "Silent Wings" He was working on a book about Gen. A must add.

Came across this superb photo of Gerald when he was a young vet, and still an EM. Photo would date we should say sometime in 1952 before the Infantry Blue Distinctives came out in August of that year.

Just seen this, from 2020, a politician wanted Devlin to be Retroactively awarded the Medal of Honor. Just checked around, as of this date, seems like it hasn't been successful, maybe it still might go through
