Bill Mauldin and Willie & Joe figures...

I just got mine yesterday and these photos don't do them justice.

From King and Country, an Asian outfit making metal painted toy soldiers. As a Mauldin collector, I simply HAD to get them. I've discussed this with Mauldin Biographer Todd DePastino, and he agreed with my assumption that the family didn't sign off on these at all.

They are caricature figures made to represent the characters Willie and Joe and their creator.

 

They're not models, or anything like that but are cartoon characters rendered in 3 dimensions

 

That's how these are correct

They did their homework, even had him left-handed (which isn't too uncommon for artists).

Mauldin also wore glasses, something he was rarely ever photographed wearing during WW2. I'm glad they didn't model him like that as in all these years I've only ever seen 2 photos of him wearing his specs...
