Case, Carrying, M42 for the M15 tripod for the M49 Observation Telescope

In this old thread stated in 2007: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19851&st=0 Craig Pickrall posted three different versions of the M42 and M42A1 carrying case for the M15 tripod.

 

Has anyone ever seen this version with a canvas tip reinforcement instead of leather? I'm wondering if this predates the leather reinforced version.

 

Until this one showed up in the mail, I don't think I'd ever seen a pre-A1 M42 case in person.

Well, last weekend I found one in Belgium, it has the same canvas tip like the one in your picture.

 

Not sure how to date them...

Here is another M42 case in a style I've not seen before that showed up in yesterdays mail. Canvas and leather body with a snap closure but with a nylon shoulder strap with C tip ends. Marked as an M42 case on the outside, but no markings found on the inside.

I found yet another version of the M42 carrying case. It has what appears to be a nylon strap like the previous version I posted, but the strap material on this one is much thicker and a different color and weave. I thought maybe the strap had been replaced, but it does not look like it on the inside to me.
