gwb123 Posted November 1, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 1, 2016 Close to the display of the C-47 and Waco Glider, and not far from the C-46 display is a small but significant display dedicated to the Flight Nurses of World War II. Flight Nurses flew on all of these aircraft, making sure the wounded made it from the forward zone to the safety of hospitals far from the fighting. gwb123 Posted November 1, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted November 1, 2016 The record in the end... As I've mentioned elsewhere, in addition to the aircraft and technology, the USAF Museum has dozens of small exhibits like this one. But they add so much color to the story of the men and women who on the aircraft preserved there. Please make time on your trip for these as well. WWII Legacy Girl Posted December 27, 2016 Share #16 Posted December 27, 2016 Really neat to see! I was just given the blue/gray flight nurse battle jacket by another collector which I will be using to represent one of the flight nurses who gave her life during the war and tell her story. If anyone has the blue/gray pants or garrison cap that they would be willing to sell, please let me know. I am planning to make reproductions of the pants and hat, but originals would be really neat. Also, I will need the flight nurse wings and nurse insignia should someone want to sell a pair : )
