TreasureHunter Posted October 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2016 Picked this up in NC, antique shop owner said its from an estate in Winston-Salem. Any info on Mr Boyd would be great. TLeo Posted October 27, 2016 Share #8 Posted October 27, 2016 Nice find. Every time I check antiques stores around the area here in NC all I see is old furniture and junk and clothes but no militaria.
z19 Posted October 28, 2016 Share #9 Posted October 28, 2016 The Boyd family was actually a very well-to-do family around the Rock Hill, S.C. area as the big bridge which crosses Lake Wylie is named Buster Boyd bridge. My grandmother was a Boyd from that area and my middle name is Boyd. No idea who that uniform that could have belonged too, but as you can see I would have a vested interest in that uniform if you ever decide to sell it. Neat piece, Alex
world war I nerd Posted October 28, 2016 Share #10 Posted October 28, 2016 Nice 30th Division set up. Two firsts for ma ... as It's the first time I've seen an "Honorable Discharge" collar disc worn on a service coat and an Overseas Cap made by Stetson ... very nice indeed. TreasureHunter Posted October 28, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted October 28, 2016 Interesting z19, I will keep you in mind. WWI nerd, I thought the same about the Stetson hat and collar disc. Cant find another hat by Stetson to compare. Bill Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
world war I nerd Posted October 29, 2016 Share #12 Posted October 29, 2016 Its funny how things work; after writing the above post about having never before seen a cap made by Stetson, I visited Bay State Militaria's website and they had another Stetson made overseas cap for sale Two of them in one day ... weird.
