Bob Hudson Posted October 25, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 25, 2016 This is pretty worn but I was able to read the soldier's name and then find more info about him online. He was born in Pennsylvania in about 1866-67 and appears to have first enlisted in the Army when he was 24 and his last enlistment began at age 32. He served with Company G 18th US Infantry. He is buried in Arlington.

Eric Queen Posted October 25, 2016 Share #3 Posted October 25, 2016 Interesting piece Bob. Can't recall seeing one like this before. Do you know were the names typically hand scratched or were they also punched?
Bob Hudson Posted October 25, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted October 25, 2016 I didn't buy it because the picker wanted way too much for it, but he also had a pool table token for the canteen of Co. A 18th Infantry: I'd imagine that was from Ft Sam Houston before they went off to the Philippines:
Bob Hudson Posted October 25, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted October 25, 2016 Interesting piece Bob. Can't recall seeing one like this before. Do you know were the names typically hand scratched or were they also punched? No idea on that. In fact I had no idea what this was when I bought it from another picker today. Luckily the unusual name of the soldier made it easy to search for info.
