38Driver Posted October 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 23, 2016 About a year ago I was lucky enough to get a grouping that was from a 340th BG bombardier, that included his B-10. It had been worn to death by first his own kid and then the neighbor kid who was the one who put it on eBay. As is my nature I guess, I saw something that needed saving so I went for it. First photos show it as I got it, along with the other bits included. Note the condition of the patches, the missing name strip and opening etc.
38Driver Posted October 23, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted October 23, 2016 I know I probably broke some unwritten rule, but I came to the conclusion that I wanted to repair and restore the jacket and preserve what was left of the patches separate from the jacket, while replacing them if I could with ones that would show how the jacket looked when it was being worn in 1945. Johnny Signor to the rescue. he produced the replacements for me and I went looking for someone to do the repairs. It took a while, and it's still a 70+ year old jacket, but I think it's a bit closer to what it used to look like. I was able to save the two patches that were somewhat savable off the jacket along with an extra flag patch that was in the group when I got it. My understanding is these were Italian made. Don't be too hard on me if I broke the code
pchepurko Posted October 23, 2016 Share #3 Posted October 23, 2016 You did a nice job with it and I see no problem with what you did.
phantomfixer Posted October 23, 2016 Share #4 Posted October 23, 2016 Looks good, keep the original patches in the jacket, or close to anyway....
Mr-X Posted June 7, 2017 Share #5 Posted June 7, 2017 I like what you have done to bring your B-10 back to life. It didn't have much life left in it before you started.
Ronnie Posted June 7, 2017 Share #6 Posted June 7, 2017 Outstanding job. Was there no way to repair the shoulders? Thanks. Ronnie

38Driver Posted June 9, 2017 Author Share #10 Posted June 9, 2017 Who ended up doing the repairs? - Henry These folks http://treasuredgarmentrestoration.com Wasn't cheap but well worth it. They've done two B-10s and two Ike jackets. I'm a sucker for "wayward" bits that in my mind deserve to be saved Link to the thread showing the English made Ike they did their best to save for me. One of my prized pieces. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/263538-english-made-ike-restorationor-possibly-a-fools-errand/
