SKIPH Posted October 22, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 22, 2016 Picked up a US Springfield 1880 Hunting w/ type 4 "RIA" scabbard. Knife is an early iron guard serial # 506, (of 1002 made). US can be seen on the opposite side of guard, but "Springfield" barely legible. If one did not know it was supposed to be there, it would not be seen. Blade is in very good shape, and has a good edge. Turned oak handle is solid, & tight, 1881 is barely visible on top of pommel. "SWP" cannot be distinguished. Scabbard is in real good shape, just some worn leather under the belt hook. Picked it up at "Tarbridge Militaria", Robert Wilson's shop. Been wanting one for years finally found one with a decent scabbard at a good price. SKIP
