Slow Friday night, so figured I would show off one that I may not otherwise...

One of the many unsung heroes of the war who, while may not be as glorious as a B17 pilot, still did his job that he was asked to do.

PFC Windsor was a stateside mechanic and communications installer/repairman. Attached to the 1060th AAFBU where he stayed until his 1946 discharge.

This came from a forum member and helps complete my numbered series of AAF units.

Hope you enjoy seeing this one.

Daniel

Ok I gotta say that many of us in the hobby tend to overlook these unsung stateside heroes (and there were millions of them!) who ensured that our guys were trained, their equipment worked, and had more than book experience in troubleshooting problems. It would be an understatement to say they performed a vital service to the nation. I've heard of stateside guys who wanted to transfer to where the war was being fought, only to be told they were too essential to send over! The paperwork copies really add to understanding history. Thanks for posting it.
