Vincennes Posted October 11, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 11, 2016 Here is an interesting postcard I recently picked up. It is one of 3 showing Civil War scenes sent by a Civil War veteran. They are signed only "C.T.B." and were sent from Bandon, Oregon in 1908 to the same person. None of the 3 are postmarked or stamped, so they were apparently all sent in an envelope. This one reads: "Bandon, Ore. 8/17-08 Dear Friend: This an episode which occurred at Lookout Mountain Tenn. on Nov 25th 1863 on the left of our regiment while driving the Rebs down the mountain side. C.T.B." A little research on the www revealed that in 1908 there were several Civil War veterans living in Bandon, Ore. One (who apparently wrote these 3 postcards) was named Charles T. Blumenrother (C.T.B.). He was in Co. H., 68th. NY Inf. That unit DID fight at Lookout Mountain. So the identity of the writer is confirmed.
