Misfit 45 Posted October 9, 2016 Share #1 Posted October 9, 2016 Just finished Killing the Rising Sun by Bill O'Reilly and Martin Dugard. It is an excellent book that is written in a simple style that holds the reader's interest. Unlike other WWII Pacific theater history books, this book brings the reader into the story by giving short introductions of specific individuals and telling their story from a personal perspective. I also liked the way the book takes the reader from the Pacific to Washington D.C. to Yalta and Postsdam and back to the Pacific, to Tokyo and the Island battles that would eventually be the undoing of the Japanese. The details of how the A-bomb was built and tested with personal insight to the characters involved in the management and delivery of the two bombs were engaging and full of information which I certainly did not know before I read this book. The research that was done was beyond exhaustive. Hope you enjoy it. Marv
Scarecrow Posted October 9, 2016 Share #2 Posted October 9, 2016 I also just finished "Killing the Rising Sun" and I echo Marv's comments on the book. Very good read. And as Marv says the research done in compiling this book is first rate.
