When did Cat Eyes first appear on the M-1 Helmet Band?

As I recall (and memory is often spotty) I had a helmet with the cat-eyes on the band in 1979; prior to that I never saw a band with cat-eyes on an M1 helmet.

That's about right, if you'll note the bulletin of November 1979 in the above link in my quote, this is when it was official, it probably was done a little bit earlier, by some, here is when they made it official.
