Robert, a really great group!

It is good to see that you still find these group and put them on the forum to share them with US.

Any idea why the Victory medal is not an original issued one? It has a ball suspension (iso a knob suspension) and is possibly French made. Furthermore the bars look French made (from the twenties/thirties of last century no less) as well. I think the medal and bars could be marked 'made in France' or 'France'.

Please also check the book about the VMs written by Jim Michels. It will tell everything about the different strikes etc.

I don't write this to belittle the group. Not at all. I think a decade or so after WW1 Mr. Benton put some effort in getting his group complete again, perhaps with the help of Mr. Studley. Which makes it more interesting in my opinion.

Again, a great group.

Herman,

You have a good eye...the Victory Medal even has the French style pin just as the Crox de Guerre. I believed he had sent to Studley for Victory mysel.
