USMC Raider Stiletto

Picked up this nice WWII USMC raider stiletto today. There is a last name etched in to the leather on the front of the sheath and is thought that the original owner was not a raider but a USMC pilot. I haven't had time for any in depth research yet but could be interesting. In my opinion it looks like any age/wear this has was caused mostly from storage. Anyway a neat USMC knife.

I owned this knife about a year ago. It came out of a Boston area collection of fighting knives.

Regards,

Ken

Hi ken, about a year ago I had a decent Everitt fighting knife and a scarce 1st model USMC Kabar that also supposedly came from a Boston area collection. I did quite well with them. Possibly the same collection?

Did you ever research the name on the raider sheath? I just looked at the USMC roster for WWII and the only Hallmeyer I could find was a WWII fighter pilot with VMF 221.

That is one beautiful knife. It seems that most of the ones you see have that crumbling cross guard. I see what I believe is a maker's name on it. Who would that be?

Hi Rodger,

I think I got 3 or 4 Raider Stilettos all about the same condition one lacking a scabbard.

I did a very fast and limited search but didn't find out anything.

There also was an Everitt(maybe the same one you ended up with)? There also was a "H,D&S" mkII knuckle knife,

All very nice items from a lifetime collector of over 40+ years and still has more!

Ken

I now own this knife. I'm so happy!! I had to intercept it before it got to the MAX. Sorry boys, but payback is the next 3 days of shopping for you all.

I know a marine night fighter pilot who taught at Vero in 1945. PM me the name of the vet and I will ask him if he knew him!
