Beaucoup VC Posted September 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 15, 2016 I recently picked this up based on Amazon's impeccable recommendation system. As excited as I was reading the book's synopsis, I was equally frustrated at the reasons which did not put this book in my hands sooner. From start to the finish, this nonfictional account of the US Army 3rd ID's 2nd Bde "Spartans" sudden and violent armored incursions into Baghdad provides page after page of insightful combat narrative. The book is essentially about killing enemy Iraqi combatants and foreign mercenaries on the ground on the most unequal terms possible. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. It's truly scary how unblemished the author portrays the mortal consequences of man versus machine. I definitely recommend David Zucchino's masterful book to both conflict enthusiasts and combat veterans.
