bryang Posted August 30, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 30, 2016 Picked this footlocker up this weekend, as I really liked the addresses printed on it. What drew my attention was the Soldier's return overseas (Germany) address, and the fact that this was shipped to an address in which the Zip Code wasn't yet instituted, as well as the four-letter state abbreviation. The SP/3 rank - I believe - was used in the mid to late 1950's. Empty, unfortunately, however I'll be filling this with some of my vintage military items. bryang Posted August 30, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted August 30, 2016 Update: I found Private Lewis Evans online in a posting on D Company, 33d Tank Battalion from 1956 (his portrait is below). Also, I learned that Lewis Evans passed away 31 March 2013, at age 83. The funeral listing had many photos of him with his wife and later children and grandchildren.
