irish Posted August 27, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 27, 2016 From a group to an officer on board the CVE Fanshaw Bay, Admiral Spragues flagship during the battle of "Leyte Gulf". As a Senior Communications officer monitoring batlle communications he must have been hearing some amazing chatter. The citations and ribbons had been framed up together by the veteran. Enjoy. DocCollector1441 Posted August 27, 2016 Share #2 Posted August 27, 2016 I saw those on eBay and almost went for them, but for whatever reason didn't pull the trigger.

KASTAUFFER Posted August 27, 2016 Share #5 Posted August 27, 2016 I think it went for a reasonable price. I was concerned about what the condition might be because they all looked like they had gotton wet. You should show the rest of them too! irish Posted August 27, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted August 27, 2016 Kurt, the frames and framing were in poor condition however the documents survived in better shape. The photos from the auction looked worse than the actual pieces. I took a chance on them and was pleased they did not go higher. The seller had some additional items that we worked out a deal on. KASTAUFFER Posted August 27, 2016 Share #7 Posted August 27, 2016 That sounds awesome Jack! I hope you got his medals too. I can't wait to see the whole group. I like Taffy 3 items too. Most of mine are Naval Aviation related. I do have the group to the sailor the USS Dennis was named for, Kurt
