phantomfixer Posted August 26, 2016 Share #1 Posted August 26, 2016 Looking for pics of the contents... I found one today with two clear plastic containers, sealed with tape, typical military style...the ones I am seeing on the net are a mixed bag of contents...was the kit filled locally? Survival Posted August 27, 2016 Share #3 Posted August 27, 2016 That is a Vietnam era first aid kit for survival kits. They might have been issued individually to aircrew also. It had one of those plastic boxes in it with misc items plus some other typical first aid kit components. You see these all the time with commercial items in them to make these more sell able. Was it used by FAC pilots? Could be, but its really more of a medical item. Did someone modify one of these kits for survival gear? Could be. Actually you could call a first aid kit as survival gear. phantomfixer Posted August 27, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted August 27, 2016 Thanks survival...the front of the canvas pouch is marked First Aid Kit (FAK) Aviators camouflaged...not implying it was used by a FAC pilot.....and it has been modified with a velcro wrap, on the back side...assuming to mount somewhere close in the cockpit...and it looks like mostly 1970s commercial bandaids etc inside one of the containers.... thanks for the input Survival...
