Here's some that I took, that Agate Hunter didn't post, it's funny I took many of the same shots he did. Was a fun time, wish I would had been there Friday.

I missed that small WWI 41st group that Agate Hunter posted, my son-n-law told me about it, but it was gone by the time we got over there.  Looked like a neat one anyone here pick that one up?  Ken

Thanks guys for posting the pics.

The ASMIC convention  gets  the " I have to get there" , at least be part of and enjoy the militaria and all the punters from ASMIC and USMF.

Well done

Phill

Thanks for posting the Armored display, that's a local guy's display I've seen through the years at different shows so didn't take any pics of it. I believe it won the award for best patch display.

I originally had plans the entire weekend so it wasn't workable for me.
Man, I was ticked when I found out on Sunday that my wife's plans for us had disolved and I was going to Portland after all (as there was the American Freedom Train crew reunion over by OMSI that I wanted to attend as well), only to find out the ASMIC show had ended the night before!
Portland has the oddest thing on Friday-Saturday shows, which is very common there and I've never heard of that anywhere else.
So, I missed out completely.

Yep, that's Joe Nilo's amazing 4th AD display.

Joe is a really good guy, too. Heck, we even served together on active duty (so for that alone, he deserves another medal!)

I would be remmiss not to mention the award won by Sean Conejos, aka Friscohare to you on the Forum.

He recently wrote an article on UV Light and the Burn Test, which we published in The Trading Post (it's in Oct-Dec 2016). He provided some great pix, the article was thoroughly researched and annotated; yet even someone like me could understand it. It will be Bible for conducting investigations using these methods.

For the military show that we sponsored, he created a 3D viewing model to even more accurately explain the process of UV detection. He added to it with another model discussing and explaining the Burn Test. Here's another way to explain it. You all know those "science projects" you had to do in elementary or middle school, and everyone's looks like they made them with flour, water, and a lot of incomplete poster paint, and ONE kid looks like his dad is a rocket scientist? Well, Sean is THAT dad. I'm not going into details about his career choice, but I can see why he chose it and why he's a VP at his company.

His "display" was so creative, so interesting, so awe-inspiring, we had to create a new category of display so we could honor him.

This is why I encourage collectors to attend our military shows; they are not just about insignia, but have displays that are just awesome. The displays continue to put museums to shame.

Thanks, Dave and Drew. It took 5 years to research, but I had fun creating this one.

It was a wonderful show indeed. An Outstanding event for all, hats off to Doug Benard. This show brings credit to ASMIC and the Pacific Northwest. Thanks for all the photos agate hunter. Thanks for the kind words Lee Bishop. And it was a real pleasure to meet everyone that I had had contact with during the show.
