101st AIRBORNE "BRAVE EAGLE" - COIN

Recommended Posts

Yes Vietnam era- given to soldiers earning awards for valor. There were two or three different types of coins depending on the level of the award.

Kyle Thank you. I assume this is probably the lowest?

I do not know for sure. I seem to remember a website that detailed the "levels" of the coins

Thank you. I'll see what I can find.

I never saw different color coins but I suspect that could be the case. In 1971 and 1972 I was issued several valor awards while serving with the 101st. With each valor award came one of these coins. They were dark like the one posted above with the letters and patch highlighted. Since my coins were issued with the Silver Star and Distinguished Flying Crosses and all were the same as the one posted I don't think it was for the lowest award. I had one of my awards and two coins mounted in a desk pen set that I used for many years until I retired. The desk set shows both the front and back of the coin. I know this doesn't answer you question on diff colors of coins but in the 71-72 period these were the only ones I saw in Vietnam.
