My Newest Eagle Head Sword 1800-1830

Recommended Posts

I believe it is Artillery Officer's but may be Cav.

Most likely early 1800's.For sure US but don't know if foreign made as no markings.

Looking from blade side the cross guard has a flaming bomb in it.

Blade is not the greatest and hard to photograph but has floral designs and crossed flags with drums and cap of freedom on it, other about the same but has Federal eagle and motto.

I just love these early 1800 swords. What do you think?

Very nice sword! I think the flaming bomb on a US sword guard like that is pretty unusual. I like the Federal eagle, too. What is the blade length?

Terry nice pick up. Like you, I do like these type of swords and started to branch out and collect them when I see them at shows and find one that is reasonably priced. They seem to be better priced than most Federal CW cav sabers and have a lot of character.

Steve Rogers,

Looks like 28 1/2 inches measured straight. I think the bomb is very unusual also.I like the eagle myself.

Dirk,

They are the kind and era of US swords I like the best. Lately I have seen some unbelievable prices on them.

Terry
