MBS Posted July 17, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 17, 2016 That is a neat set of ash trays. Thanks for posting them. Here are the matches; now all you need are the smokes! Brent
firefighter Posted July 17, 2016 Share #7 Posted July 17, 2016 Cool stuff. Ive seen the matches but never the ashtrays.I'm surprised they're not all used, unless NOS. I can't image anyone buying these and not using them, as money was tight back then.
CampSutton Posted July 17, 2016 Share #8 Posted July 17, 2016 My favorite HomeFront item. When the stars supported the war effort. I call this my age identifier. If you are over 50 years old you can identify at least the number of the signers to match your age. If you are under 50 you can't. I had a copy on a plane flight when I first got this. I was trying to figure the out when a very nice lady sitting next to me just started naming them and telling me all about them. Lets just say I was very humbled. Brent I've always enjoyed those matches, here's the anti-Japanese version. What I find interesting is how much more racist the Anti-Japanese stuff was, always yellow skin, squinty eyes and thick glasses.

ArmyReliefShow-04.jpg ArmyReliefShow-05.jpg ArmyReliefShow-06.jpg Very cool set of autographs, do you know who Lee Shubert was? There were a few names on there I recognized Ed Sullivan and Jack Haley being the most prominent of the names I could read. Thanks for posting, Wes. CampSutton Posted July 18, 2016 Share #12 Posted July 18, 2016 Very cool set of autographs, do you know who Lee Shubert was? There were a few names on there I recognized Ed Sullivan and Jack Haley being the most prominent of the names I could read. Thanks for posting, Wes. The Shubert brothers owned over 220 theaters. Lee, as stated, canceled his show so the entertainers could participate in this event. Right next to Jack Haley you have Ray Bolger. For the younger folks they were the Scarecrow and Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz. I really don't want to spoil it for those that want to look so I will only give just a few right now. Some I really like are the Andrew sisters, Kate Smith (God Bless America), Burges Meredith, Vincent Price and the list goes on and on.

Collector5516 Posted July 18, 2016 Share #18 Posted July 18, 2016 These are some of my favorites. They are part of a large grouping from an AAF vet who was stationed on Pearl when the Japanese attacked.
trenchrat1918 Posted July 19, 2016 Author Share #19 Posted July 19, 2016 Very cool. The ashtray isreally interesting. Most people don't realize that the British made anti nazi well into the 1950s. I guess they really held a grudge.

trenchrat1918 Posted July 19, 2016 Author Share #21 Posted July 19, 2016 I have been looking for both of those banners for years. I have never found any that I could afford.
Collector5516 Posted July 19, 2016 Share #22 Posted July 19, 2016 I have been looking for both of those banners for years. I have never found any that I could afford. Yeah, I was amazed to see how much they were bringing on eBay ($100-$200+ each). I was lucky to purchase the grouping on eBay for around $150. In addition to the banners, the grouping included his photo album, reunion badges and other paper items. The seller told me he had a lot more stuff from the same pilot so I wound up buying everything. He flew bombers with the 8th Air Force later in the war. trenchrat1918 Posted July 20, 2016 Author Share #25 Posted July 20, 2016 This is an unplayed with Victory Bomber game from Whitman publishing, publisher of Big Little books. It kind of depresses me that some kid got this and never played with the game.
