Don't know, but will assume, that this is correct in being under the heading "trench art" - this letter was sent home by William Alexander 3rd ESB 263rd Med Battalion Co A- when he first got to the Philippines

the letter: I try not to buy artwork like this unless it comes with the cover and unless it is part of a larger group.  There were a few letters he illustrated in the pile of over 300 letters he sent home from the day he entered basic until his discharge- all the artwork being out of the overseas pile, however. If any are interested I'll post a couple more.

I would love to see the other ones! I am always surprised at what soldiers added to their letters.

This one he incorrectly puts date as 1944 but hey its January, we've all done that!

Thor those are great pieces of Ww2 history.Some of the soldiers of WW2 were really good at cartoons and drawing. Thanks for showing them.Scotty
