Thurman Posted July 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 12, 2016 John H. Broujos, 87, of Carlisle and Pittsburgh died on Friday, July 8, 2016. John graduated from the H. C. Conrad High School in Wilmington, DE, earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware and his law degree from the Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle. John served in the United States Marine Corps and the Reserves for 37 years and retired with the rank of Colonel. He was a veteran of the Korean War and the Vietnam War. In the Korean War, John was the Rifle Platoon Commander, Dog Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment and was awarded the Silver Star (our nation's third highest combat decoration) and Purple Heart medals. John served in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967 as Executive Officer, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, G-2 of the 9th Brigade. In 1968, John was an instructor at the Marine Corps Command and Staff College and authored the lesson plan for Riverine Warfare.
