patches Posted July 9, 2016 Share #1 Posted July 9, 2016 I've seen this patch before, the one on the chest with winged aircraft, I don't remember, maybe that Washington-Britton book from the 70s??? So has this been talked about before, if so link, if not, what's it's proper name, and use?

Larry Bravo US82Bravo, that's what I remember now, haven't got hits in a Forum search, so perhaps it wasn't talked about before. Maybe more will weigh in. patches Posted July 9, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted July 9, 2016 I wonder if this patch was worn on the fatique or field jacket? Oh Was it worn on the sleeve of the Class A and long sleeve Khaki shirt??? seem to recall in the mists of time of it being worn as a cuff patch, or am I confusing the old Aviation Cadet patch with this . itshistory Posted July 9, 2016 Share #7 Posted July 9, 2016 There are a couple of these type patches that were worn on the flight suit. The one shown indicates the student is in a fixed wing track of instruction. Others feature an H-19 silhouette that indicated the helicopter track. The fixed one may exist in other colors as the helicopter one has two known color combinations, one is a black on orange and the other a red on yellow. An arc to be worn over the SSI for primary helicopter is also known, there may be one for the fixed wings too. IH

seanmc1114 Posted May 18, 2018 Share #11 Posted May 18, 2018 Was there a reason for having different colors for this same patch? Thx Could be that one was for cadre and one was for students. Or one could be for primary helicopter training and one for advanced. Here are some photos of the patch being worn I just posted in another topic. First shows it being worn as a pocket patch with the Fourth Army SSI by students at Fort Wolters, Texas.

Interesting that on the IKES the patch is on the right pocket and the khakis on the left.
