CNY Militaria

I think you are mistaking the bottom middle ribbon to be an Army Commendation ribbon, when in fact it is a foreign award.

The bottom pocket insignia looks like a North Africa Goums type Saharan insignia?

The one you have looks pretty different?

obviously I bought all decoration separatelly, the dress came without any decoration, they were not originally on the dress... in any case was not easy spot them

But If anyone can find a more similar Goumiers decoration I'll swap it with pleasure :D (about now I keep this).

Oh no....CNY Militaria what medal should be? :o

The incorrectly identified ribbon is actually the California National Guard Federal Service Ribbon. Here is an image-

I don't want to hijack your thread with info you may already have, but among the photos in the link I posted above is this one showing Gen. Hudelson after being presented the Distinguished Service Medal for his service as commander of the 40th Infantry Division in Korea. This would have been June 1952 per the following links with newspaper accounts and citation information about his awards. Since you have included the DSM among his ribbons on your uniform, by the time he was awarded that medal he was also entitled to the Korean Service Medal as well as the United Nations Korean Service Medal for his time in Korea as well as possibly the Armed Forces Reserve Medal which was created in 1950 if he had ten years or more of reserve/national guard service. Since the National Defense Service Medal wasn't created until 1954, he may never have worn it since I believe he had retired before then.

You'll find numerous examples on ebay.fr of the 'insigne de goums' in the EUR 20-35 range with some BIN's. ;)

Any history on the connection of the French insignia with the General?

Oh Guys, thanks I'll revise the decorations, I've found a better and more similar ''insigne de goums'' so I'll swap for the new one and I'll follow the suggestion of seanmc1114 and I'll leave only silver star and I'll remove the DSC.

Photos asap.

THank you

Giancarlo

Sorry to keep butting in, but I found some additional photos of the general from the California Military Museum online although none show him wearing his dress blues yet. I think these were all while the 40th Division was stationed in Japan before deploying to Korea.

The following pictures of the general appear to be from the division's 1948 annual training at Camp San Luis Opispo.
