FT.Monmouth1943

Recently I picked up a bunch of items that belonged to a member of SEAL team one. I have the name blocked out because he is still living so if any of you know his name please do not post it here. With that being said, all comments are welcome.

- The BDU to the right has the remnant of a SOCOM patch and airborne tab.

Next are two BDU's that I thought were interesting because they appear to have Navy Special Warfare Boat Operator collar insignias.

Probably the coolest item in the group is a set of modified DBDU's. The jacket appears on have never been worn, but the pants have seen a lot of use. The insides have been gutted out of both. The jacket has the lower pockets completely removed and the top pockets slanted. The pants have been reinforced by the knee, and the butt pockets were removed and the outside flaps sewn shut. I have some more items (mainly gear) I'll post in the upcoming days, enjoy!

Great find especially the modified DBDUs with provenance. I have a named USN Seal woodland pattern camouflage BDU which had the shadow of an oval on the left front pocket minus the airborne tab and felt it had to have been the SOCOM patch and your uniform confirmed it so many thanks for posting this. I believe I saw a couple of these being sold on eBay as I picked up one of the named DCUs. I found the Seal being mentioned in an article where he was interviewed by the press while stationed in Rota, Spain.

Regarding the collar piece you mentioned being Navy Special Warfare Boat Operator I believe USN Seal Warrant Officers wear these collar insignia which look like the old UDT insignia but are now called Special Warfare Operators insignia.

Nice! I got them from the same seller, still trying to find out who got the modified DCU's, helmet and LBT tactical vest so I can try and get them. I found that same article where he was stationed in Spain.

I also saw this massive grouping when it sold on Ebay piece by piece and was able to pick up two very used sets of his modified DCUs he wore while on an exchange program with the SASR in Australia back in the mid 90s. As far as modifieds go, these are interesting because not only were the chest pockets slanted, there was also a pocket added to the central chest area to fit a Silva compass. Apparently, this was a common modification made to Australian SF uniforms of the time. First time I have seen that modification on a US piece.

I also saw the vest, helmet, and other items for sale. Wish I had been a bit quicker with the trigger finger on some of the BINs. However, I am still very glad to pick up what I did. Great scores, fellers!

Thanks! Here are a few more items. Two balaclavas (one is definitely field used) and three unknowns. The two belts/harnesses/ straps are made by different companies (one Blackhawk, the other unknown) and the thing with Velcro has no marks in it whatsoever. If anyone can shed some light on the unknowns that would be awesome.

Here is an Iraqi chest rig that the seller stated the SEAL took off an Iraqi colonel. It has some Arabic that is hard to make out. Also, always check the pockets, you never know what you're gonna find :)
