I don't typically collect much having to do with the Navy, but this one was too neat to let stay in the shop where I found it. I was excited to find it named on the inside to a Lieutenant Commander, and I really like the bullion insignia.
It is named to a USN veteran (b. 1916, d. 1999) from Fitchburg, MA, and I've done some initial research that mentions service aboard PT Boats in the Pacific, 1951 service aboard the USS Tiru submarine, and command of the USS Betelgeuse (AK-260) from 1961-3 carrying Polaris missiles. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery and is recognized for service in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. If anyone has any further leads or information I would greatly appreciate it!
Honored to share this one. All feedback always welcomed!
