Sparty On Posted June 23, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 23, 2016 I've been wanting to post this uniform that I purchased a couple of months ago. He started with the 70th and transferred to the 10th Engineer Combat Battalion in the 3rd Infantry Division. It doesn't look like he saw actual combat. His service records indicate he was a truck driver. He also brought back several German items including a small headband like scarf with names and states of people in assuming he served with in either two of the divisions. There many extra photos not pictured that also came with the group.

Sparty On Posted June 23, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted June 23, 2016 Some lose items. The center photo is the veteran wearing what appears to be the Ike jacket and garrison cap.
Sparty On Posted June 23, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted June 23, 2016 Some of the bring backs. Notice the German ribbon as previously mentioned with other veteran names. It also looks like a silver wound badge, still in the original box.

ScottG Posted June 23, 2016 Share #8 Posted June 23, 2016 Many 70th soldiers and 3rd soldiers "switched" places to rotate home at the end of the war. Its pretty common to see a 3rd ID uniform with a 70th FWTS SSI. My Father in Law has one very similar to this. Great group! Scott

BEAST Posted June 23, 2016 Share #12 Posted June 23, 2016 Very, very nice! I started my military career with the 70th Div (Tng) and then went on active duty with the 3rd ID. Great to see a jacket with my old two outfits represented!
Thor996 Posted June 23, 2016 Share #13 Posted June 23, 2016 That's a great grouping: love the signed Nazi sash- [is that a funeral sash?] I am fairly sure TR purists probably like them unblemished but I prefer the signed vets flags/sashes etc.
katieony Posted June 23, 2016 Share #14 Posted June 23, 2016 A really neat group especially with the "bring-backs"! Mike
TheGrayGhost Posted June 23, 2016 Share #15 Posted June 23, 2016 Awesome grouping! Thanks for sharing. On a side note, the 10th Engineer Combat Battalion is one of my impressions, so this is particularly nice for me.
