My dad's Swagger Stick

Not quite sure where to put this so here goes...

My dad was in the Marines from 47-59 and in fact spent time in Korea during the war. So that means he was in during the short-lived heyday of the Swagger Stick. All he had left was the tip with the EGA on it. So for Father's Day I restored it. I used a 5/8" mahogany dowel and a ,50 cal brass for the bottom. We (my dad, my brother and I) found the .50 cal round while camping in Quartzsite Arizona right after my mom passed away. This is where Parron trained his troops before heading to North Africa so the brass has special meaning also. Here are my pictures, 1 before, a couple of the stick and one if it on his dress blues that I restored earlier this year. He was thrilled to see it again!

Thanks for all the kind words! Certainly a labor of love! And I took the other half of the dowel and the other half of the round and me and my grandson made him his own a swagger stick!
