This hat was a recent donation from a friend who acquired it while in the Navy. He would not tell me how he acquired it but I can only guess. The name of the Captain that originally wore it is still in the cap and after some research I find he retired as a Rear Admiral.

Nice cap! The Bancroft label is still the "over 50 years" version that was introduced during Korea. They kept that same logo skipping over the 60th, 70th, and 80th anniversaries of the company before finally updating it with "over 90 years" in 1991.

Awesome cap!

Very cool backstory, I wonder why your friend didn't tell you?

Thrill of the hunt, maybe?

Maybe it was a high seas robbery!
