SKIPH Posted May 29, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 29, 2016 Just found this fine example for the new collectors to learn from. Item number 122000049844. It is a guard marked PAL, with a 10 groove handle, and an M6 sheath. Buy Now price is $425. I don't know the seller, nor have I ever dealt with him. Study carefully, and let us know what you see. Bodes Posted May 29, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 29, 2016 The sheath is as phony as a $3 bill....Don't like the knife either....Bodes http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-U-S-Navy-M3-Pal-Fighting-Knife-w-Sheath-WWII-Army-Marines-Navy-/122000049844?hash=item1c67c506b4:g:hNwAAOSwagdXSk0j

jw517 Posted May 29, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 29, 2016 Looks like a Kiff blade. Writing is really a jolk! At least it's a poor fake.
cgutierrez Posted May 30, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 30, 2016 Well, he does state that it is a "U.S. NAVY" M3 - so this may explain its' difference from standard "Army" issued M3s knives and M6 scabbards . . . . . or not! CG
SKIPH Posted May 30, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted May 30, 2016 The knife is a fake! Bunch of these hit the market a few years back. They all have the faked PAL stamp, handles were not 9 grooved, nor were they configured in that manner. Pommels were staked, never saw one ground that way. Blade back cut is more of a 90* angle. The scabbard is a cheap repro with a fakest staples ever. In good conscience I don't quite understand how this could have such a high "Buy Now" price. I'd like to believe the seller just doesn't know. Don't understand the Navy connection at all. SKIP
sundance Posted May 30, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2016 Those staples on the M6 are different than anything I've seen. The grip near the pommel is strange looking also - and where is the tang and flaming bomb on the pommel. Maybe he meant $4.25.

camillus Posted May 30, 2016 Share #11 Posted May 30, 2016 the cross guard looks to thick and the bent end doesn't look right either. I don't know anything about M6 scabbards but the knife is a poor fake
sactroop Posted May 30, 2016 Share #12 Posted May 30, 2016 I especially like these M6's with the alligator lacing installed inside out.
