BROBS Posted May 15, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 15, 2016 Supposedly this is named to a USMC guy but I don't know the best way to find that out. All I could find was that in 1955 he was selling insurance in Ames. Thought it was neat and the theatre made scabbard is cool too. I have a theatre made knife from Viru with similar stitching on the edges. -Brian

bayonetman Posted May 15, 2016 Share #3 Posted May 15, 2016 I do love these "salty" knives. My father's Navy SeaBee outfit on Guam had some of these Quartermaster knives, but I have no idea how they got them. Dad said they were popular as they were more sturdy and useful than the Mark 1 or Mark 2.
jw517 Posted May 15, 2016 Share #4 Posted May 15, 2016 Sturdy yes! Any knife made to pound nails with the butt is a earn yer keep knife. Try that with camillus MK1.

BROBS Posted May 16, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted May 16, 2016 Thanks guys.. I'm still trying to find any record of this man's service.. I am thinking it may be this guy: ALBERT GEORGE WILHELM S.T.O.L.L. but his grave says nothing about military service and I can't find really anything... -Brian

BROBS Posted June 5, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted June 5, 2016 Thanks, but I like the sheath! Looks like it was used so much the sheath probably wore out. If anyone has any ideas on finding out about the man's service I'm all ears. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

BROBS Posted July 15, 2016 Author Share #12 Posted July 15, 2016 Thank you for this info... I guess the person didn't have to be from Ames originally? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
