AndyUSMC Posted May 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 12, 2016 Here is a blanket I found yesterday. It is gray wool with dark stripes at each end. The blanket measures 70 x 70 inches. this does vary a bit due to stretching. The stripes look like they were originally black or dark gray. They are 3 inches wide and are located 6 1/4 inches from the end. It is made from 100% wool. When you look closely at the fibers you can see some variation in color. Fair condition with some holes, wear, and fading. You can actually see where it faded while on a bed. Please let me know what you think. Thanks. Dr_rambow Posted May 12, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 12, 2016 I have one of these also and never got around to figuring out the true origin. Would be interested in finding more documentation.
evets Posted September 30, 2016 Share #6 Posted September 30, 2016 there's one on eBay for sale right now even. They seem similar (especially color-wise) to the typical 1930s/early WWII USMC blankets, but without the chain stitched USMC in the middle...so perhaps it is/they are USN or USMC, just pre-WWII and/or into WWII
evets Posted September 30, 2016 Share #7 Posted September 30, 2016 oops...I may have mis-spoke/posted. Is the blanket gray or green-ish gray? if it's greenish-gray, member knd643 posted this a few months ago: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/262463-early-usmc-blanket so, if it's greenish-gray I'm now guessing mid/late WWII USMC?
