1930's USMC Aircraft 1 patch

Picked this up at the show last weekend. In the mid 1980's when Jeff Millstein was working on this book, Bob Byrd had the only one (known to me) of these. Jeff tried and tried to get it but never could. Since them a few have shown up but still one of the harder marine squadron patches to find I would think. I remember Pat posted a nice on in the "rarest marine patches" thread.

Does anyone have any information on these beyond what Jeff has in his book?

Thanks

One of the rarest USMC squadron patches.

If I remember correctly there were two sizes.

One of these sold on eBay in 2008 and I kept the photographs as reference. Just in case you haven't seen this photograph of one being worn.

I sold the photo and the patch in 2008 and have only had two others in the last 36 years. It is one tough USMC squadron insignia to find.Scotty

Another thread on this with a similar 4" patch. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/29174-can-anyone-id-these-a1-chenelle-wings/&do=findComment&comment=388725

Just picked this one up and will have better scans of it soon. I am guessing at least 8 inches in width as is the 2nd variation that Bob is talking about. It appears to be chenille from the grainy image.
