1972firebird Posted May 6, 2016 Share #1 Posted May 6, 2016 Hey guys, this was for sale on ebay, and the seller contacted me after wbay shut down his listing for onvious reasons. He is offering at $350 OBO which seems decent for it, but i wanted to make sure it checked out first. He says that the soldier got the knife in ww1 at age 16, and carried it then through ww2 afterwards. The sellers says that was when the navy replaced the blade with an american blade, and then he went to fight in korea on passed away there. Any help qould be much appreciated. Thank you.
jw517 Posted May 6, 2016 Share #2 Posted May 6, 2016 I have a feeling it is not authentic. Does not look correct, but let others say for sure.

1972firebird Posted May 6, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted May 6, 2016 Thats to bad, I felt like the handle was bad but maybe there would be a slight chance the blade was an LF&C blade or something so i could put it on a handle i know is real. militariaone Posted May 6, 2016 Share #5 Posted May 6, 2016 Greetings, The blade has been re-tipped, but appears to be a genuine L. F. & C. made variant, the skull crusher appears a bit flattened at its tip too. Handle in my opinion is fine (read: genuine Au Lion’s variant). That said, for what it is, the blade is not worth the BIN price for parting out purposes back to a genuine L. F. & C.’s handle being retipped/shortened. The posted knife is all real/genuine (we won't discuss the Navy blade replacement part of the owner's story), but because of its condition and mismatching of French/American parts it is a time wasting money pit, but hey, if that’s what you are into, go for it.
