sactroop Posted May 4, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted May 4, 2016 So far I've come across the following, I haven't been able to confirm it yet, so it might be scuttlebutt. Supposedly, Tri Technologies had a contract for about 40,000 of these. The (06MA8) stamped on the blade is Cage Code.
porterkids Posted May 4, 2016 Share #6 Posted May 4, 2016 There are currently four lots of 25 pcs on the Government Liquidation auction web site. All new in the wrapper. Hard to figure out why a brand new in the wrap bayonet is being sold as surplus. http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/search?cmd=results&fromsearch=true&words=cage
Misfit 45 Posted May 4, 2016 Share #7 Posted May 4, 2016 I guess I'll have to look for them on ebay. Never saw one before. Marv
phantomfixer Posted May 5, 2016 Share #8 Posted May 5, 2016 There are currently four lots of 25 pcs on the Government Liquidation auction web site. All new in the wrapper. Hard to figure out why a brand new in the wrap bayonet is being sold as surplus. http://www.govliquidation.com/auction/search?cmd=results&fromsearch=true&words=cage Here is how it could have happened in the USAF...item sits in supply longer than X amount of days, without being ordered, the item is removed from the active base NSN list and either shipped to a depot OR if tagged/identified incorrectly it could go to DRMO ...and then from there... OR the item had a suitable sub NSN on the serviceable 350 tag, not the actual NSN for the item...the suitable sub for turn in NSN is obsolete, then the item could go to DRMO or a depot if no one inspects the item and catches the wrong NSN identifier...then there they go to sale... and there could be many more ways... porterkids Posted August 14, 2016 Share #10 Posted August 14, 2016 I did a side by side comparison of the Tri Tech bayonet and a late model Lan-Cay. It was interesting to find mold flaw marks that were identical on the two bayonets. There is absolutely no doubt that the Lan-Cay grip and Tri Tech grip came out of the same mold. Misfit 45 Posted August 14, 2016 Share #11 Posted August 14, 2016 One thing I find interesting about the markings on this M9 is that the CAGE number (Civilian And Government Entity) and not the manufacturer's name is marked on the bayonet. As far as I know, the only precedence for that is on the little black plastic M-10 scabbards used for the M7 bayonet. There are several of these M9s on ebay right now.
