B-17Guy Posted April 20, 2016 Share #1 Posted April 20, 2016 Hey all, just a heads up that the annual air show at the Military Aviation Museum in Virginia Beach, VA is coming up May 20-22. If you have never been there, it is an awesome museum with almost one of everything. B-17Guy Posted May 24, 2016 Author Share #8 Posted May 24, 2016 I hope some of you made it out to the show, despite the marginal weather. We flew a number of air to air photo shoots Thursday and Friday when the weather was good. Show was rained out Saturday, but with minimal light rain and a resonable ceiling Sunday, the FAA gave us the green light to fly. Most aircraft flew, but the Para's had to scrub. I'll post some pics when I get some time. Our next event is "Flying Proms" on June 11. Best, John
Waltz41 Posted May 24, 2016 Share #9 Posted May 24, 2016 John, With it being a 6 hour drive, I knew Saturday was out because of the weather and I just was on the fence on Sunday, which was tougher anyways schedule wise for me, and well....didn't make it down. Kind of bummed but it is what it is. Saw some pictures and videos, particularly of the 109.....wow! Cant' wait to see it at Reading's WWII weekend soon. Btw, what is the "Flying Proms" event?? B-17Guy Posted May 27, 2016 Author Share #10 Posted May 27, 2016 Flying Proms is basically a mini airshow that takes place just before sunset with a live symphony playing to airshow routines. Quite the deal. http://www.militaryaviationmuseum.org/flying-proms.html
B-17Guy Posted May 29, 2016 Author Share #11 Posted May 29, 2016 As promised when I got some time, here are a few photos. Pic of Wild Cargo after we flew a two ship photo mission Thursday. Second is our Mossie on Sunday with some English looking weather.... John
B-17Guy Posted May 29, 2016 Author Share #12 Posted May 29, 2016 Since you asked Brian, here is the Bf-109G-4 with the DB605 engine. Sort of looks like a post surrender pic at a captured German Airfield, with the C47 visible just above the tail. John
