Sgt. BARney Posted March 14, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 14, 2016 What were the criteria/requirements for receiving the various USMC "qualification bars" circa WW2? I am generally familiar with the criteria and process for qualification with rifle ('03 Springfield, Garand) and pistol, and how one's score determined whether you were Expert, Sharpshooter or Marksman. But how did one earn or qualify for machine gun, bayonet, grenade, etc., etc.? What was the qualification criteria for the other weapons for which Q-bars were awarded? Is there a document (naval regulation, field manual, etc.) which gives this info? Also, what determined whether you wore a "Rifle Sharpshooter" badge instead of a "SS-RIFLE" Q-bar on a Qualification Bagde? The more I read on this topic, the more confused I get! Thanks, and Semper Fi!
Fly USMC Posted March 14, 2016 Share #2 Posted March 14, 2016 The more I read on this topic, the more confused I get! Ditto. Wish I had a better answer, but it seems that many times" just because someone wanted to" might apply??? S/F
