Austin R Posted March 11, 2016 Share #1 Posted March 11, 2016 Today, I was searching one of my usual antique stores and found this in a dollar bin. I don't know much about EGA's but I know ones with longitudinal and latitudinal lines are pre-1936. I think it may be a cap badge, but I'm not sure. Brig Posted March 12, 2016 Share #3 Posted March 12, 2016 P1892 emblem...most often associated with Span Am. Appears the stud popped off back in the day and was a bit sloppily repaired, period done. It is indeed a cover emblem, as enlisted Marines didn't rate true collar emblems until the 20's
usmcaviator Posted March 13, 2016 Share #4 Posted March 13, 2016 This version, in its outward appearance, started to show up in the early 1890's as Brig mentioned, however this one in particular with the post back, dates from 1898-1914. It was worn as late as the 1920's. Earlier versions will have sturdy brass prongs for attachment to the Kepi. Mike
Austin R Posted March 15, 2016 Author Share #5 Posted March 15, 2016 Thank you guys for the help. I would have never guessed it was from the Spanish American War.
