M60 Driver Posted February 29, 2016 Share #1 Posted February 29, 2016 Trying to ID this ribbon. I assume it is homefront and American and somehow related to aviation as I suspect that is the image of an airplane hidden by the stars that I really don't want to have to remove and then reinsert the stars because that can be a real pain. Thanks in advance.
M60 Driver Posted February 29, 2016 Author Share #2 Posted February 29, 2016 Sorry for inverted pic, it is not inverted on my screen on the original.
JMcCulloch Posted February 29, 2016 Share #3 Posted February 29, 2016 wow. If you stay in place long enough, you see the same stuff. There was a query on this around 2011. I thought it was a Boeing production ribbon of some sort, but nobody knew exactly what it was.
Third Herd Posted February 29, 2016 Share #4 Posted February 29, 2016 It could be ab older Civil Air Patrol ribbon, some had airplanes on them.
cutiger83 Posted February 29, 2016 Share #5 Posted February 29, 2016 It could be ab older Civil Air Patrol ribbon, some had airplanes on them. I found an old post on the forum that shows these CAP ribbons. I don't see this one from the OP on the CAP webpage. http://www.frontiernet.net/~ericbush/US/cap_old.html
M60 Driver Posted February 29, 2016 Author Share #6 Posted February 29, 2016 Living in the Seattle area, the Boeing hypothesis is certainly a possibility. I tend to think the stars represent a certain amount of hours of work as I have seen similar adornments to other civilian employee ribbons of the era and this ribbon was in a box with some AAF civilian employee ribbons, but also with a whole lot of other unrelated items as well. The hidden stick figure images does appear to look like a twin-engine bomber. I will try to get a pic without the stars.
M60 Driver Posted February 29, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted February 29, 2016 My bad, it looks like a four-engine and more appropriate to Boeing WWII era bombers.
firefighter Posted March 4, 2016 Share #8 Posted March 4, 2016 Not CAP.Most of there ribbons with aircraft show a side view, not head on. The aircraft on your ribbon looks more like a B-29 with the tall tail.Below is a really nice CAP ribbon chart. http://www.txsgair.org/DAFAB/CAPCode/AllRibbon.htm
gharper Posted July 11, 2018 Share #9 Posted July 11, 2018 For the civilian workers at Boeing Plant. .Possibly for days without accidents or something similar.
